Every Nordic IoT deployment runs on our standardised hardware platform: security-hardened industrial PCs designed and configured specifically for industrial IoT workloads.

Security-hardened means: purpose-built minimal Linux images with no unnecessary services, secure boot enabled, automatic security updates, a hardware watchdog timer for unattended recovery from software hangs, and a network firewall configured to allow only required traffic. These are not general-purpose computers with security bolted on. They are built from the ground up as dedicated IoT gateways.

Storage uses M.2 NVMe SSDs with LUKS2 full-disk encryption (AES-256). Encryption keys are protected by an on-device hardware secure element, a dedicated cryptographic chip that holds key material in tamper-resistant silicon, not in software. All data stored on the device is encrypted at rest. If a device is physically stolen or decommissioned, storage contents are unreadable without the secure-element-bound key.

The hardware is rated for industrial environments: operating temperature range of -20°C to +60°C, standard 35mm DIN rail mounting for installation inside electrical cabinets, and IP20 protection rating. Connectivity includes 4G LTE with an IoT SIM card and Gigabit Ethernet. RS485 serial interfaces support Modbus RTU communication, which is used in our energy monitoring deployments to read industrial power meters.

Every unit ships pre-loaded with Nordic IoT software, CE marked and RoHS compliant. Standardisation means repeatable deployments, predictable maintenance schedules, and readily available spare parts.
